The story begins in an era when gods and demons roamed the earth. Driven by a desire for limitless power, an ambitious demon named Bhasmasur performed intense penance on the secluded peaks of the Himalayas to appease Lord Shiva.

Pleased by his rigorous devotion, Lord Shiva appeared and asked him to seek a boon of his choice. Bhasmasur asked for a terrifying boon: "Grant me the power to reduce anyone to ashes instantly by simply placing my right hand upon their head." Without hesitation, Lord Shiva granted the wish.

Following the demon's demise, Lord Shiva emerged by splitting the mountain peak. This divine manifestation cleaved the summit in two, leaving behind a massive stone pillar that is worshipped today as the Shrikhand Shivling.

It is said that the Pandavas also traversed this arduous route during their period of *Agyatvas* (incognito exile) in the Mahabharata era. Massive rock formations along the path, such as 'Bhim Dwar' and 'Bhim Bahi,' stand as silent witnesses to that ancient era.

• Base Camp (Jaon/Singhad): The official starting point of the trek is Jaon village in the Nirmand Tehsil, near Rampur Bushahr.

• Duration: It generally takes 4 to 5 days to complete this trek.

Day 2 Singhad to Thachru ~12 km. This involves the steepest and most difficult ascent of the trek (Dandidhar). Overnight stay at Thachru.

Day 3 Thachru to Bhimdwari / Parvati Bagh ~10 km. Passing through beautiful valleys via Kali Ghati and Nain Sarovar Lake.

Day 4 Bhimdwari to Shrikhand (Darshan) and Return ~6 km ascent for Darshan (Parvati Bagh, Bhim Bahi, Shivling) and descent back to Bhimdwari/Thachru.

Day 5 Thachru to Jaon Return to the Jaon base camp and conclusion of the journey.

4. Food, Accommodation, and Essential Items

• Langar (Community Kitchen) & Tents: During the pilgrimage, the 'Shrikhand Mahadev Seva Dal' arranges tents (accommodation) and free *langar* (meals) at Singhad, Thachru, Kali Ghati, and Bhimdwari.
